InVra plus provides an integrated approach and coordination and identifies interfaces to prevent deadlines and budgets from being exceeded.
Large and/or complex projects are often divided into sub-projects. This may result in interfaces between the various sub-projects. What approach should be taken to environmental factors, in urban areas for example? If sub-projects run parallel to and connect up with each other, the parties are mutually dependent. Who is responsible for timely connections? This results in interfaces in the design, phasing and planning areas. A risk is presented by the fact that these interfaces have not been sufficiently accounted for, which places the planning, costs and quality of the project in jeopardy. This calls for close cooperation and interface management. InVra plus provides an integrated approach and coordination and identifies interfaces to prevent deadlines and budgets from being exceeded and quality from being impaired.
Projects have both internal and external interfaces. The recesses for cables and pipelines in concrete form an example of internal interfaces. The reservation of space for a kick plate or cable route is another example of an internal interface. If cables and pipelines are being laid in the direct vicinity of traffic flows (cars, bicycles, trains) that have to continue, this is an example of an external interface. These interfaces can be identified as early as before the contract phase. An interface matrix is an excellent instrument for this purpose. The first step is to identify the interfaces. This information is then laid down in an interface matrix and communicated in a timely manner with the parties concerned so that agreements can be made. This can result in the physical boundary or scope of a contract being adjusted. The person responsible for each interface can be laid down as early as at this stage.
Based on this preparation InVra plus can identify the risks and provide implementation plans for the high-risk tasks. To give a practical example: the risks and implementation plans for a (long-term) line closure. In this situation many parties have to complete many tasks all at the same time. InVra plus has experience of interface management and coordinating the implementation aspect. The aim of this is to prevent unsafe situations, substandard quality, extra costs and delays.
